In the discussion on the development in the market, the Governor General, asked members of the Stock Exchange, what message he could take to the ‘common man’ about investing in the market and the medium through which they could invest. This he said stemmed from the fact that in his interaction with the ordinary man, they thought the stock market was not for them. His Excellency was told that investing in stocks is not a difficult undertaking and anybody that needed to invest in the market can do so. The person investing needs to do so through a Broker, (in which there are 11) and Brokerage Houses are located throughout the island and any one of their representative could guide persons wishing to invest. It was also pointed out to the Governor General that investing in equities overtime, outperforms other investment instruments. Therefore, persons should invest in listed stocks as a part of their portfolio.
