RBTT announces the impending appointment of Ms. Catherine Kumar to the position of Managing Director of RBTT Bank Limited. Ms. Kumar will be the first woman to hold the top executive leadership position at a local commercial bank.
Ms. Kumar, who held the position of Inspector of Financial Institutions, tendered her resignation from the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago on June 8, 2006. In accordance with her contract, her resignation from the Bank will take effect on September 7, 2006, however to avoid any potential conflict of interest Ms. Kumar has severed all ties with the Central Bank and will not exercise any of the functions of Inspector nor participate in any discussion or decision making related to that function. Further, during the three-month period, Ms. Kumar will have no professional or business contact with the RBTT Financial Group. She will assume her position at RBTT Bank Limited on September 11, 2006.
Ms. Kumar, who has built a sterling reputation as a leader in the financial services sector, will replace Mr. Suresh Sookoo who was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the RBTT Financial Group on March 28, 2006. Mr. Sookoo served as Managing Director of RBTT Bank Limited from January 2003.
