JSSE Partners with Jamaica Cancer Society to raise funds for Mammography Machine

What You Can Do
The Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) is appealing for donations to assist with the purchase of a new mammography machine for their mobile screening unit. The mammogram remains the gold standard for detecting abnormality in breast tissue before it develops into cancer. The mobile screening unit will enable the JCS to reach more communities across the island using mobile screening and bring early detection to more Jamaican women. The fund raising target is J$40,000,000. Donations can be made by visiting the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange’s website: jsseja.com. On the JSSE webpage, click on the JCS Mammography Machine Project. All major credit and debit cards accepted. Donate today!

About The Jamaica Cancer Society
The Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, established in 1955 and charged with a mandate to “fight and defeat cancer in all its forms”. Through its Head Office in Kingston and network of branches in the parishes of St. Elizabeth, St. Ann and St. Mary, the JCS offers programmes and services to the general public in keeping with their mission “To eliminate cancer as a major health problem in Jamaica.”

Diagnostic Screening and Education
The Jamaica Cancer Society, through fixed site and mobile screening, provides information to the public, particularly women between 18 – 69 years, about cervical cancer and the benefits of screening and early detection while increasing access to screening of women. Further, the society ensures that all persons identified with an abnormal result are followed-up for treatment services.
