JSE to spearhead Caribbean Stock Market Association

The movement towards the formation of a single regional stock market took another step forward with the Jamaica Stock Exchange being asked to spearhead the formation of a Caribbean Stock Market Association. This decision was made at the recent Business Conference of the Board of Trustees of the Caribbean and Latin American Action (CLAA) and addressed by the chairman of the JSE, Mr. Roy Johnson. The theme of the conference was “Financial Integration – One Regional Capital Market”. Currently Jamaica is the site for a regional stock exchange pilot project funded by the three major stock exchanges in the English-speaking Caribbean: the JSE, the Barbados Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Trinidad & Tobago.
