“To: Dedicated entertainers who have contributed, with great distinction, to the music, art and culture of Jamaica”

The Jamaica Stock Exchange, having reached another significant milestone in its history, that of 40 years of achievement through integrity and innovation, takes this opportunity to look back and to honour and celebrate some of the persons who have made significant contributions to Jamaica’s cultural development through music, drama and the other performing arts. Over the years Jamaica, and indeed the whole world, have enjoyed and benefited from the sterling contributions which have been made in these art forms.

To all of tonight’s awardees let me say that your true contribution cannot truly be measured in terms of money or sales units or through any other quantitative unit of measure known to man. What you have given of your time, your talent and yourselves has been beyond valuable and beyond price. You have broken geographic and racial boundaries. You have blazed paths for our youth to follow and served as the source of their inspiration. The body of your work will transcend time and will live on to be replicated in the hearts, minds and talents of generations to come.
