JSE Introduces A New Index on April 1, 2011

New Index Coming to the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) on April 1, 2011
 
(KINGSTON March 28,, 2011): The Jamaica Stock Exchange will introduce a new Index, on Friday, April 1, 2011, which will be named the JSE Combined Index.  This index will track the performance of all the companies that issue ordinary shares listed on both the Main Market and Junior Market of the Jamaica Stock Exchange. The combination of both indices to form the JSE’s Combined Index will allow investors, potential investors, analysts, researchers and all persons who use the information provided on a daily bases to see the performance of both markets at a glance without having to scan different reports to get an appreciation of what is happening in both markets.
 
Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, General Manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, stated that “The combined index is a great way of allowing investors and other market participants to be informed of the performance of all stocks available on the market in a single report. The combined index provides a daily indicator of total market capital and its movement. Therefore, for expediency it will be good for all those who use the information to make informed decision and write reports to find the information in one place”.
