JSE GM made presentation at UK Inaugural Diaspora Conference in London

Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) Sees Prospect for Collaboration
 
(Kingston, April 12, 2012): Representatives of the Caribbean Stock Exchanges (Jamaica Stock Exchange & Barbados Stock Exchange) and CEN-UK met with the London Stock Exchange (LSE) in London, on Monday, March 27, 2012. This was a part of a planned week of activities for the Inaugural Diaspora Business Week which was organized by CEN-UK to enable the Caribbean Stock Exchanges to meet members of the Diaspora and other business interests in the UK.
 
The week started on Monday March 27, 2012 with a meeting at the London Stock Exchange (LSE), where a wide range of issues were discussed, including the prospects of finding solutions for:
       Market surveillance system for the Caribbean Stock Exchanges and
       JSE – LSE collaboration on training possibilities
 
During the meeting the LSE revealed that they were in the process of setting up their e-Campus. It was noted that they have started a pilot project with a few courses on-line. However, the General Manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, told the meeting that the Jamaica Stock Exchange already has an e-Campus, which is in its second year of operation. She went on to state that the JSE would be open to assist the LSE with their e-Campus given the knowledge the JSE had acquired.
 
Mr. Ibukun Adebayo, Head of Equity Primary Markets Middle East and Africa, International Business Development and Mrs. Antonella Amadei; Head of International Relations, agreed that this could indeed be very good area for collaboration. In the mean time the Caribbean Stock Exchanges also discussed the prospect of acquiring a state of the art surveillance system which would assist the various entities to monitor the Stock Market in their respective territory using the latest technology. Members of the regional exchange and the LSE explored several other areas where there could be exciting opportunities for the Caribbean to tap into many global markets.
