JSE Futures & Options Workshop

Coming soon to the Jamaica Stock Exchange: Trading in Futures & Options!

The trading of futures & options is always seen as a major development in a country’s financial market. Jamaica Stock Exchange will soon be providing the facilities to allow for the trading of options and futures on its Exchange.

In 2008/9 we held workshops aimed at strengthening the market understanding and appreciation of these products which included the basic information on futures & options as well as the mechanism for effecting these transactions and benefits to different constituents of our market.

The workshops for 2011 are aimed at transferring the theories into a practical approach of designing a futures or options product. Other areas of focus will be the administrative procedures, how is it traded on a market, the risk mitigation strategies that must be put in place among other practical hands-on tips to make it happen.

It is therefore important for all future traders, risk managers, back office administrators and compliance officers to register for this workshop that will be held by the Jamaica Stock Exchange. Our first training session on Futures & Options for 2011 is scheduled for Thursday, March 24, 2011 and will be conducted by Dr. Howard Haughton who is renowned in the field of Financial Products and Risk Management. Dr. Haughton will educate all participants in areas such as:
