Dr Moses Peart, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the HEART Trust/National Training Agency is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Wayne Wesley to the post of Executive Director effective February 16, 2013.
Dr Wesley has served the HEART Trust/NTA since 2009 as National Programmes Director, and then as Chief Technical Director with responsibility for the development and execution of the Organization’s strategic direction. He has over nineteen years of experience in the delivery, development and administration of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) both locally and internationally.
A 2003 Fulbright Scholar, Dr Wesley brings to the position of Executive Director a wide range of industrial, technical and leadership experience both locally and internationally. He holds a Bachelor of
Education in Industrial Technology from the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech); a Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems from Southern Illinois University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial Engineering from Florida State University. In addition, he has also completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Services Management (Module 1) from the Jamaica Stock Exchange e-Campus, an advanced Management Achievement Course at the Manchester Business School, and a Level 8 Certificate in Strategic Direction and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute in the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining the HEART Trust/NTA, Dr Wesley served UTech with distinction for over fifteen years which culminated in his promotion and appointment as a Senior Lecturer and Programme Director for the Industrial Engineering Programme. He also served as President of UTech’s Academic Staff Union.
Dr Wesley is a registered Professional Engineer and a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality. He has been engaged in numerous consultancies in TVET, industrial engineering, and quality engineering systems at the international, regional and local levels; and has authored numerous technical
research papers. Dr Wesley served on the Council of UTech and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Jamaican Foundation for Lifelong Learning (JFLL). He is a graduate of St. Andrew Technical High School and enjoys playing basketball. He is married with three children.
The Board of Directors has every confidence that Dr Wesley will provide the requisite leadership and direction in achieving the strategic goals of the HEART Trust/NTA.
