JSE & Digicel Data Protection Workshop July 30, 2014

The recent data breach at the Target department store in the United States of America has brought into sharp focus the threat that many businesses face on a daily basis as it relates to data protection. IBM Managed Security Services that monitors billions of events per day for nearly 4,000 clients in over 130 countries, in its 2012-13 Report, which provides an analysis of investigations from different sized industries and companies, revealed that over 500 security devices are employed to protect their data.

In a world where a week rarely goes by without reports of at least one serious cyber-attack against a major organization, it is important to ask a few key questions, such as:

What is happening across the threat landscape?
What kinds of attacks are being launched?
How many of those attacks result in incidents requiring investigation?

The said Report shows the incidence rates across monitored industries:

Manufacturing 26.5%
Finance and insurance 20.9%
Information and communication 18.7%
Health and social services 7.3%
Retail and wholesale 6.6%

It is on these findings that the Jamaica Stock Exchange and title sponsor Digicel Jamaica will be hosting a one day workshop on Data Protection Keeping your business and client information confidential and safe on July 30, 2014 at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel.
