Gregory Samuels, Associate Director, Client Solutions Group
Gregory Samuels was appointed Associate Director, Client Solutions Group at FirstCaribbean in August 2010 and is responsible for providing derivatives hedging solutions to large corporate and government clients in the Northern Caribbean (Jamaica, Belize, Cayman, Bahamas, BVI, TCI,). Upon his appointment, Gregory went on a 3 months rotation program with CIBC World Markets Inc., the Capital Markets trading arm for parent bank CIBC Inc. and was exposed to derivative strategies & trading  (Interest Rate Swaps & Options, Commodity Derivatives, FX Options)  while working on the derivatives trading desk.
 
Prior to joining the Client Solutions Group, Gregory worked with the Investment Banking/Capital Markets arm of FirstCaribbean for 4 years and was part of the Northern Caribbean deal team that arranged, structured and placed over US$2.0 billion in debt/equity/mezzanine/structured facilities in the regional market.
 
Prior to joining FirstCaribbean, Gregory worked for the Caribbean business of Royal Dutch Shell PLC in Jamaica. There he held a number of positions, including Operations Manager for Shell Gas. In that role, he spearheaded the development of the Jamaica operation, including a number of engineering projects notably the construction of a LPG plant in central Jamaica and the design of a cylinder reconditioning plant in Kingston.
 
Gregory has served on various private & public sector committee including the PSOJ Energy sub-committee and the Bureau of Standard technical committee for Propane/Butane gas. He was also an Adjunct lecturer of Financial Management at the University of the West Indies in the MBA program.
 
Gregory holds a MBA in Banking and Finance , a Bsc in Mechanical Engineering and is currently a level III candidate in the Chartered Financial Analysis (CFA) program.
