Jamaica Stock Exchange – The Recipient of the Rotary Club of Kingston East & Port Royal Vocational Services Award

The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), on January 29, 2024, received the Rotary Club of Kingston East & Port Royal Vocational Awards 2024 in the category of ‘Company’. The Award recognized the JSE’s commitment to social development across Jamaica including its work through the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE), aimed at driving social changes in the island.

According to Dr. Marlene Street Forrest, Managing Director of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, “The JSE is proud to receive this Award and it is a testament to our commitment to ensure that the social fabric of Jamaica is developed along with the development of the financial sector. If one happens without the other, there is going to be disconnect and this would continue to stymie the growth of Jamaica. This will not allow the country to reach its full potential.”

The Board and members of the Rotary Club of Kingston East & Port Royal congratulated and paid tribute to the Jamaica Stock Exchange as the Vocational Awards recipient. In their citation the Rotary Club also stated:

“The Jamaica Stock Exchange has been an invaluable ally to the Rotary Club of Kingston East & Port Royal (KEPR) for over 14 years, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to community service and the principles of Rotary. Through their support, the JSE aligns with Rotary’s objectives, conducting its business and community activities in accordance with the four-way test principles.

“They have graciously offered their facilities to host club meetings and have been a significant sponsor of various impactful projects including the Minna Carr Basic School, Bridgeview Early Childhood Development Centre and Camperdown High School Lab. Notably, they also sponsored a bus shed and have distinguished themselves by consistently paying annual fees.

“In addition, the JSE has been a steadfast supporter of all Rotary fundraisers and events. They have also made their presence felt in Rotary publications, with four advertisements in the club’s bulletin for the period 2023 – 2024. Their dedication extends to philanthropic efforts, including donations to the Rotary Foundation, sponsoring beach clean-ups and contributing to children’s events in Port Royal”.
