This week we take a look at where the competitors are positioned in the 2009/2010 season of the Today’s Money Caribbean Masters’ Competition for the week ended 2nd December, 2009.
At week forty-four (47) of the Caribbean Masters’ Competition 2009/2010, Donette Johnson continued to hold the lead position which she took over from Jason Dear eleven weeks ago. Donett leads with a total portfolio value of J$1,205,140.92. This represents an increase of $428,653.63 or 55% over her position at forty-four (44) of the competition. Donette has been very active in both the local equity market as well as those of Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. Of her total portfolio value, Donette held 49% in the equities market (including Jamaica Broilers, Pegasus and Pan Jamaica units in Jamaica, and Supreme Ventures units in Trinidad & Tobago), 2% in a money market repo, and 49% in cash. At week forty-seven (47) of the competition Donette’s annualized return amounted to 1,222.7%. Donette continues to watch the markets closely and has benefited from some of the many opportunities that have arisen.
Michelle, who overtook Jason Dear to grab the second position, had a total portfolio value of J$607,360.65. This represents an increase of $385,005.47 or 173.1% over her position at week forty-four (44). Her annualized return amounts to 561.3%. Michelle seems to be relatively cautious in the equities market and has not been as active. However, her interventions in the market have been well timed and have added significantly to her portfolio value. Of her total portfolio value, Michelle held 96% in the equities market (representing Guardian Holdings units held in Jamaica), and 4% in the money market. She held no cash.
Jason Dear held third position with a total portfolio value of $316,859.74. This represents an increase of $11,336.23 or approximately 3.7% when compared to his position three weeks ago at week forty-four (44). Meanwhile Jason Gokool, the sole none-Jamaican competitor from Trinidad and Tobago, had a total portfolio value of J$106,409.61, representing an increase of J$5,210.94 or 5.1% when compared to his position three weeks ago.
