Carib Cement – Statement by Carib Cement about Recall of Cement

STATEMENT BY CARIB CEMENT

 

Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL) this evening announced that it is recalling bagged cement manufactured between February 19 to 27, 2006. The company was responding to test results of samples taken by the Bureau of Standards on product manufactured between 23 and 25, February 2006.

 

 

The Bureau of Standards conducted tests on samples related to a batch of cement produced between February 23 and 25, 2006. However, as a precautionary measure the Company is issuing the recall for bagged product packaged within the period February 19-27, 2006.  Persons who purchased bagged cement dated February 19-27, 2006, should return the cement to the point of sale for replacement.

 

Where the cement has already been used and there are any attendant issues persons should contact the Sale Office at Caribbean Cement at Rockfort, telephone number 928- 7530-1 or 938-6156.

 

Carib Cement is in the final stage of investigating the circumstances which led to a breach of quality standards at the Rockfort plant. Investigations are expected to be concluded by Friday, March 17, 2006.

 

 

The Company said that it was in the interest of everyone to get to the bottom of what has been an unusual chain of events. Carib Cement reaffirmed its support for all measures to protect the consuming public.
