DPA Facts
- The Data Protection Act, 2020 was passed by the Government of Jamaica in June 2020.
- If you process customer data in your business, you need to be registered with the Office of the Information Commissioner, by November 30 2023.
It’s the law!
- The substantive provisions under the Act which include the rights of a data subject and legal obligations of a data controller will take effect on December 1, 2023.
- The two-year transition period for data controllers to take the necessary steps to ensure full compliance with the requirements under the Act will expire on 30 November 2023.
