Hardware & Lumber (HL)- Final Dividend

A final dividend for the year ended December 31, 2002, of 7.5 cents per stock
unit on the ordinary shares of fifty cents each, was recommended by the Board of
Directors. Payment date is June 18, 2003 to shareholders on record as at June 4, 2003.
This is subject to approval at the AGM.
