The renaming of Dehring Bunting & Golding Ltd to Scotia DBG Investments Ltd.

Marlene Street Forrest’s Address at Dehring Bunting & Golding Renaming to Scotia DBG Investments Ltd.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the Stock Exchange. Today marks a special occasion when on the market, the listed company known as DB&G will be renamed Scotia DBG Investments Ltd. An occasion such as this is important, as this is one avenue by which investors can be informed of a company’s rebranding exercise.  There is probably no better place to inform the market of the change in the name of a publicly listed company than at the Exchange.  For those investors who follow the market, the daily trade sheets and tickers will be represented by the symbol SDBG.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange has had a positive relationship with Scotia and DBG. We recognized that with the acquisition of DBG by Scotia, some changes would be inevitable. We suspect that the officials here today will tell us what accompanies this change and what this will mean to investors.

Today we mark these changes with the symbol removal of the DB&G Strip which was placed there at the time of listing on the 31st August 1992   and replace it with the new strip. DB&G knew the benefit of the market; it was the first start-up company which listed on the Exchange through private placement. The stock has appreciated from a price of $1:00 to $23.75 at the close of market yesterday. The company’s history and performance to date remains in tact and we now look to the future for an even better performance under this new brand.

We congratulate Scotia for planning this event through which investors can be informed of developments in a company in which they invest.
