About the Programme
The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) has partnered with the IDB Lab, a member of the Inter American Development Bank Group (IDB), to institute the three-year project, “Innovating Social Sector Financing”. Specifically, the project seeks to address the challenges faced by Social Sector Organisations (SSOs) in raising financial resources by addressing their limited capacity for business management and/or project management, and their inability to quantify and communicate their contribution to potential donors a,nd investors in order to engage them in support of their social impact work.
The project, in recognition of the capacity constraints of most social entities, will be seeking to provide management skills training, technical assistance, and mentorship to SSOs to improve their; access to funding and ability to list on the Social Stock Exchange. To aid in achieving this objective, that is, the enhancement of management skills, the JSE has designed the Certificate in Social Sector Management Programme. This capacity-building initiative is an online programme aimed at developing the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and attitudes, of social sector operatives, that are critical for the sustainable and effective operation and management of a Not-for-Profit Organization and a Social Enterprise, respectively.
