The JSE & the FSC present National Investor Education Week

The Jamaica Stock Exchange and Financial Services Commission will be hosting their Inaugural National Investor Education Week which will be observed from September 27 – October 3, 2008.  The theme of the Week is: “Creating Better Investment Opportunities for All Jamaicans.”

The rationale for the Week was derived from our market research findings which showed that the level of public awareness regarding the financial services market is quite low and is a cause for concern as it is a contributory factor for poor investment decisions.  The week aims to focus national attention on the importance of investing. It is envisioned to be a calendar event that will be a distinctive forum for constituents of the financial services sector to meet directly with potential and existing investors.

The objectives of the Week are to:

§         Expose potential investors to information about the financial services sector and in particular investment in equities;

§         Educate potential investors about investment opportunities;

§         Create partnerships with major national and organizational stakeholders in investment;

§         Provide a showcase for financial trends, products and services.
