Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited (SJ) Unaudited Report to Stockholders as at the Second Quarter Ended June 30 2022

 The year-to-date June 2022 has seen widespread macro-economic challenges, many of which directly impact the financial sector. Counterpoint to the recent gains in global economic activity following the gradual relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, recent geopolitical tension and elevated inflation have threatened this positive trajectory. The tightening of monetary policy by our main trading partners as well as our own Central Bank, has resulted in sharp rises in benchmark interest rates, a fall in asset prices, along with the corresponding squeeze in liquidity.
