JSE/MIF in Association with Six Listed Companies Launch Loyalty ‘Card’ Programme

The Jamaica Stock Exchange with the support of the Multilateral Investment Fund and six Listed Companies launched a one-of-a-kind Loyalty Programme at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Thursday, November 17, 2016.

The General Manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, in her address, told the audience that, “The loyalty rewards card is launched in association with many of our listed companies who have come onboard because they are committed to moving toward a path of deeper investor engagement. This is indeed a special day at it marks the beginning of a process in which many shareholders in Jamaica are given the opportunity to be deliberate consumers in the business in which they invest and are being rewarded in the process.”

Mrs. Street Forrest went on to state that “The participating companies in this loyalty rewards programme know that dividend, stock splits and bonuses, while they are tangible benefits, will not bring investors directly in touch with the products or services in which they invest.  This card provides the incentive for shareholders to experience another side of the companies. It is what I will term a full circle card which spreads benefit from the company to the investor and from the investors back to the company, which is owned by the investor.”

Mrs. Jacinth Hall Tracey, CEO of Lasco Financial Services Limited, speaking at the launch, stated that Lasco Financial Services is committed to the JSE Loyalty Programme as the company see this programme as a great avenue to give back to its customer and it is a great incentive for customers to improve their credit rating by paying back their loans on time. Therefore, it is a win – win situation for all concerned.”

In his address, Mr. Derrick Cotterell, Chairman & CEO, Derrimon Trading said, “We are excited to support the programmes of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, as they are truly an innovative company and are very much interested in the growth and development of Jamaica.” He went on to state that, “Programmes such as the JSE Loyalty Programme allow the money to circulate within the Jamaican economy more frequently and among companies in particular and this will indeed assist in wealth creation.”

The JSE Loyalty Programme is one in which the over 130,000 investors that buy and sell shares on the stock market will be able to get a loyalty card upon filling out the application that can be found on the JSE’s website, participating merchants and brokerages. Card holders will be able to use these cards at any of the seven (7) participating merchants to get reward points with any purchase they make.  These accumulated points will be added up and at the end of every four months investors will receive a rewards voucher or cheque which they can use at any of the participating merchants. The seven participating merchants of the JSE Loyalty Programme are: Lasco Financial Services, Derrimon Trading, Jamaican Teas (Shoppers’ Delight), Dolphin Cove, Sweet River Abattoir, Knutsford Express and Jamaica Stock Exchange.
