The JSE Council approved guidelines governing the release of company news effective January 1, 2004:
(1) Company News should be released after 12:00 when the market is closed, whenever possible. This will allow at least six to eight hours for the public to digest the news;
(2) Company News should be released simultaneously to the JSE and the news media. The release to the JSE should be done in hard copy and via e-mail.
(3)Company News should be released within a 24-hour period of approval by the Board or other relevant authority. Additionally, the JSE should be notified ahead of time of the meeting that is scheduled to approve financial results and corporate actions.
