JSE e-Campus – Credit Risk Management Course Coming Soon

The JSE e-Campus is a web-based learning system where students are allowed to attend classes online. Lessons are interactive with video and audio clips of lecturers and students are able to attend Courses, view Content material and e-books, do tests and interact with lecturers, all from the comfort of their own home. Additionally, students also get the opportunity to interact face-to-face with their lecturers in lively and intense classroom sessions.

There is a wide range of Courses currently being offered by the JSE e-Campus to meet the demands of the financial services sector, including a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Services Management and various short-term Certificate Courses. The Credit Risk Management Certificate Course is one such Course.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The JSE e-Campus’ Certificate Course in Credit Risk Management is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of:

ü  Credit risk

ü   The Role of Credit Rating Agencies

ü  Defining a Rating Transition Matrix

ü   Ratio Analysis, among  other exciting topics

Emphasis will be given to analysis of various types of organizational structures that can be used to effectively manage credit risk, as well as the employment of analytical techniques for the quantification of risk. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of methods employed internationally by rating agencies and other best practices and assessing the applicability of these in the local market.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On the completion of this course, students should have an appreciation of the following:

·         Identify the differences between issuer and counterparty risk as it relates to traditional fixed income products versus that of derivatives;

·         Know how to employ methods to validate a risk rating model to assess how well such models are able to predict delinquency/ default;

·         Understand how to develop a credit risk rating model for credit scoring a retail loan or rating a corporate bond;

·         Effectively manage credit risk in an organization via appropriate policies and procedures.
