JSE Corporate Secretary Workshop, March 4, 2010 – Mrs. Suzanne Ffolkes Goldson

 SUZANNE FFOLKES GOLDSON

 Mrs. Suzanne Ffolkes Goldson is an Attorney at Law and Lecturer in Law at the University of the West Indies, Faculty of Law, Mona, Jamaica. 
 
Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson has a degree in Economics from York University, Canada (BA. Econ.) and a Law degree from the University of the West Indies (LLB Hons.) and a graduate degree in Law (BCL) from the University of Oxford, England. She was called to the Bar in Barbados (1994) and in Jamaica (1995).
 
She specializes in Company Law and Corporate Governance and is the course director for the LL.M. course on Corporate Governance.   She also lectures Criminal Law and Contract Law at the Mona Campus and has taught Private International Law, Equitable Remedies and The Law of Trusts at the Faculty of Law, Cave Hill Campus. Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson also lectures in the MBA programme at the Mona School of Business, University of the West Indies, Mona in the Legal and Regulatory Framework of Business.
 
Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson has been an advisor to the CARICOM Committee on The Reform of Company Law in the Commonwealth Caribbean and The Joint Select Committee of Parliament on the Companies Act 2004. Mrs. Goldson is also a member of the Corporate Governance Committee of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, responsible for the drafting and dissemination of corporate governance principles for Jamaica and the Commonwealth Caribbean. Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson is also a past consultant to the law firm DunnCox
 
She has published a number of articles in regional and international journals on Corporate Law and Corporate Governance and has presented papers at numerous conferences, locally, regionally and internationally. Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson was a visiting scholar at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, Canada in 2009 where she completed her research on international corporate governance.
 
Mrs. Ffolkes Goldson recently completed the Global Corporate Governance Forum, Caribbean Training of Trainers Programme in Corporate Governance Board Leadership.
She is currently completing her book on Company Law in Jamaica.
