GWest Corporation Limited the 34th Company to list on the Junior Market & the First Health Care Provider to list on the Jamaica Stock Exchange
(KINGSTON December 21, 2017): GWest Corporation Limited became the 34th company to list on the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s (JSE) Junior Market and the seventh for 2017. It is also the first health care provider company to list on the JSE.
Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest, managing director of the JSE, in her welcome, highlighted that,
“Throughout the year, the Junior Market has performed well. The value traded amounted to 2.5 billion shares; an increase of over 66.4% when compared to the prior year while volumes traded increased by 109.3% moving from 590.8m to 1.2m units. As at yesterday, the market capitalization stands at $112.3 billion compared to the value of $250m when the market started. This is significant! With the listing today of GWest, the market capitalization will be increased to $113.6 billion and the JSE combined market cap will be $1.1 trillion.” Mrs. Street Forrest, continued to inform the audience that there are now 69 companies listed, representing 93 securities. Companies listed on the Junior Market have now raised $7.4 billion as at December 20, 2017.
GWest Corporation Ltd., Chairman Dr. Konrad Kirlew thanked the over 1,300 investors who have shown confidence in the company’s vision and he said that the team at GWest Corporation: the directors, doctors, nurses and all the other stakeholders will do what is required to ensure that their trust was worth it.
In his closing remarks Mr. Karl Townsend, Chief Country Officer Capital Markets, JMMB Group, the leader broker for this listing, thanked GWest Corporation Ltd., for the opportunity to play a part in this historic listing.
