Greta Bogues

 

Greta Bogues is currently a Solution Focused Leadership Consultant and a Certified Corporate Governance Trainer who, over the past 18 years, has worked with both private and public-sector entities in successfully developing director’s tools to support strategic board oversight and presenting results orientated corporate governance programmes. In 2001, Miss Bogues spearheaded the establishment of the PSOJ Corporate Governance Committee, which continues to train directors and enhance awareness of the issues and principles of corporate governance best practices within Jamaica.

Miss Bogues previously served as the first female Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the combined Private Sector Organisations of Jamaica (PSOJ), the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA) and the Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA), the consolidated business association secretariat and was also the former Senior Director, Corporate Affairs and External Communications for J. Wray & Nephew Ltd. (JWN). As a part of the leadership team of JWN she developed and successfully implemented innovative strategic corporate communication plans and corporate sustainability solutions which enhanced the profile and sustainability of the company.

Greta Bogue also has a broad background and knowledge of the operational activities of both commercial and merchant banks, having worked for over 20 years in the banking industry at various management levels. During her banking career, she held a number of leadership positions, including President and Vice President of the Association of Licensed Financial Institutions (ALFI), the association that represented the interest of all Merchant Banks, Trust Companies and Finance Companies in Jamaica. Subsequently she was asked by the Jamaica Bankers Association (JBA) to restructure the Jamaica Institute of Bankers (JIOB) and successfully transformed JIOB to being a viable and profitable entity offering business training programmes.

She is currently pursuing at the University of the West Indies, her MPhil/PhD studies titled ‘An examination of corporate governance practices of companies listed on the main Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) between 1975 and 2015”.  She received her first degree in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies and graduated from the Universities of Manchester & Wales Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme in 1999. In addition, she is also a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB). In 2002, she was certified by the Commonwealth Association of Corporate Governance (CACG) as a Corporate Governance Trainer, in 2009 by the IFC Global Corporate Governance Forum (World Bank Group) to teach their corporate governance leadership modules and in 2010 was trained by the IDB International Integrity Training Programme to deliver programmes in ethics, governance and corporate sustainability. Miss Bogues passion for corporate governance and strategic leadership has made her one of the most sought-after speaker, presenter, panelist and facilitator locally and at regional conferences.

Her public service includes serving as a board member for Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA), Jamaica Manufacturers Association (JMA), The Toll Authority of Jamaica, HEART Trust NTA the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) and the National Council of Education among others. Miss Bogues is currently Chairman of the PSOJ Corporate Governance Committee, St. Andrew Settlement, Majesty Gardens Infant School and Majesty Gardens Learning Centre and sits on a number of private and public-sector committees, including the Public/Private Sector Corporate Governance Implementation Oversight Committee. She is also a Director of Vector Institute of Technology.
