Glenmuir High takes the lead after one month of trading in the JSE Stock Market Game

After four weeks of trading in the Jamaica Stock Exchange Stock Market Game for High School, sponsored by Gleaner Company and LIME Jamaica Ltd, First time entrant Glenmuir High is in the lead, with a portfolio value of JMD 208,061.50 (of which 48.17% is in equities and the remainder is in cash). Munroe College is in second place with a portfolio value of JMD 206,244.71 and has 59.94% in stocks. Hampton School is in third place, with a portfolio comprised of 87.68% equity and a value of $204,826 or JMD 1,418.71 behind Munroe College. Daneek McKenzie of Alpha Academy has a portfolio value of JMD 106,050.00, 30.23% of which is in equities. She has cash balance of JMD 73,990. All of Daneek’s equity investment is in National Commercial Bank (NCBJ), which reported its year-end results on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Earnings per Share rose 17.51% to JMD 4.16, with total interest income growing 20.6%. Since the results were released, the stock price has jumped 22.46% from JMD 13.09 last Thursday, to close at JMD 16.03 on Wednesday, November 11. Since Oct 1, Daneek’s portfolio has gained 23.26%.

Theredo Johnson of Glenmuir High is second in terms of portfolio value. His portfolio value stands at JMD 105,872.50, of which 60.50% is in equities. Theredo holds 8 stocks varying across different industries, but primarily in finance and manufacturing.
