The Gleaner Company Limited (GLNR) has advised that its Annual Financial Statements for 2008 will be submitted within 60 days rather than submitting its fourth quarter accounts to December 2008. The company has also advised that a director has purchased 2,000 GLNR shares on January 19, 2009 .
GLNR is seeking to reinforce its market leadership position in Jamaica for 2009 with a commitment to leveraging all of its media platforms (print, radio, and on-line) to ensure that its customers receive the most valuable content, delivered in the most efficient manner and at the lowest cost . In a move to streamline its operations, the company will unfortunately have to reduce staff levels by approximately 70 positions by January 30, 2009, through voluntary redundancy, early retirement and involuntary cuts.
