The Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS)

 

Bruce Butterill holds the position of Vice President, Product Management for The Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS), and is a member of the company’s management committee.

 

Bruce joined CDS in January 1987. In his 18 years with CDS, he has held a variety of positions in the operations and product management areas of the company and has been an active participant on numerous industry committees both within Canada and internationally. Involvement includes the Global Equity Market (GEM) Clearing and Settlement Working Committee, CCP12 and ACSDA. He has also spoken at a variety of industry events, including: the US International Operations Association (NYC), Industry Standard for Institutional Trade Confirmation (ISITC) North America on Cross-Border Linkages (Toronto), the Global Conference on Central Counterparties (London, UK), and the Banking and Finance Summit (Mumbai, India).

 

Bruce has been actively involved with America’s Central Securities Depository Association (ACSDA) since 2000 and was elected President for 2003/2004, and again 2005/2006. On behalf of ACSDA has worked closely with the Association of Global Custodians (AGC), Thomas Murray and the G-30 on reporting and disclosure requirements.

 

Bruce graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and lives in the Toronto.
