Steven Whittingham is the Deputy CEO for GraceKennedy Financial Group Limited. In this role, he has direct oversight of GraceKennedy’s insurance underwriting, insurance brokerage, reinsurance, merchant banking and investment businesses across the region. He is a member of the GraceKennedy Executive Committee and is Head of Digital Transformation for the GraceKennedy Limited Group.
Steven began his career at BlackRock in New York, focusing on institutional fixed income asset management. He also worked with Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Group in London and has significant Mergers and Acquisitions experience, acquiring and operating multiple enterprises in Jamaica.
He joined the GK Group as President of First Global Financial Services Limited (FGFS). He has also served in the role of Managing Director of GK Capital Management, Chief Investment Officer of the GraceKennedy Limited Group and Chief Operating Officer of GraceKennedy Financial Group Limited.
Steven attended the University of Pennsylvania where he completed a dual degree program, earning a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the College of Arts and Sciences. He received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 2008 where he was awarded the Morgan Stanley Fellowship.
Steven is currently a Director of GK General Insurance Company (June 2012 – Present) and is the Chairman of GraceKennedy Insurance (EC) Limited (April 2019 – Present), and Chairman of the Jamaica Stock Exchange. He has served as a director on several private and public sector boards including the Jamaica Promotions Corporation Ltd. (JAMPRO), National Road Operating and Constructing Company Ltd. (NROCC), the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association, the Fisheries Management and Development Fund and HEART Trust NTA.
He is married with four children.
