The JSE e-Campus is a web-based e-learning system that allows students to attend Courses online. Lessons are interactive with video and audio clips of lecturers.Students are able to read content, view e-books, do tests and other exercises relating to a specific Course. Additionally, students are able to bookmark their position in each Course and resume the Course from that point at anytime within the timeframe. The system tracks participants' usage and scores from tests. At least one eight-hour session is required to complete the credit hours.As such, students get the opportunity to interact with lecturers and tutors face-to-face in lively and intense classroom sessions

Lawyers who are completing the Understanding and Interpreting Ja. Fin. Reg. course for continuing legal professional credits will not be required to attend a face-to-face session.

The JSE e-Campus Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Services Management is a continuing professional education programme for individuals operating in the capital markets, dealing in investment products and for professionals in the financial services sector. Each Course within this Post Graduate Diploma is also offered as short-term Certificate Courses at two levels;Certificate of Completion and Certificate of Participation.



Module 1

Quantitative Methods

At the end of this Course, students will be able to understand the fundamental concepts of statistics and statistical inference, methods for organizing and describing data, apply the concepts of random variables and probability distributions, apply the basic principles of regression analysis, and the basic principles of the time value of money.

Fundamentals of the Money Markets

This course introduces students to the local and global financial environment with special emphasis on Secondary Market composition and its impact on the Capital Markets .

Treasury Risk Management

A practical training program on how to manage complex interest rate and currency exposures, manage the risks involved, and effectively allocate the funds of the institution .

Credit Risk Management

This course provides an understanding of the credit process and covers the modern techniques of credit risk management .

Financial Planning & Wealth Management

This course will bring together practitioners and eminent academics to provide a forum to discuss the latest developments in the industry and share the successes and challenges they have had in their own organizations with students.

Module 2

Global Capital Markets and Financial Tools

The mission or objective of this course is to have the students gain an in-depth understanding of futures and options, how they work, its uses, risks etc.

Compliance, Ethics and Corporate Governance

A thorough study of current compliance, ethics and corporate governance best practices through a rigorous combination of self-study and presentations, participants will gain valuable insights and knowledge in ethical, compliance and corporate governance activities for immediate application to the workplace.

Strategic Portfolio Management

Strategic Portfolio Management is an important part of the financial service industry and this course will bring together practitioners and academics describing the latest developments in the industry.

Market Risk and Middle Office Management

This course is designed to assist participants to understand the importance of risk management and how middle office operations can facilitate the risk management process.

Module 3

International Bond & Debt Market

This course will cover most aspects of financial management from an international perspective.

Mergers, Acquisitions and Privatization

In this unit, candidates will learn about mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and the various ways in which in which deals are structured.

Corporate Structures and Procedures

This course of study examines the corporate structures and procedures in various cultural and geographic locations.

Mastering Financial Negotiations

This course is primarily about the application of negotiations concepts and skill to make deals, build relationships and resolve conflicts in a business context

Understanding & Interpreting Jamaica's Financial Regulations & Law

This course is designed to give participants a clearer understanding of Jamaica's financial regulations & law. It covers the areas of Aspects of Commercial Law; Financial Sector Laws; Compliance Issues and Emerging Reforms, and among relevant issues.

Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate of Completion applicants:

  • A First Degree in Management Studies, Finance or any other related Social Sciences Degree; OR
  • JIM Securities Course or any other FSC-approved first level Course and at least three (3) years relevant experience within the financial services sector or a related field

  • Dr. Andrea Sutherland - She is the Programme Director for the Finance Division of the College of Business and Management: School of Business Administration at the University of Technology where she has been lecturing since 2009. Dr. Sutherland has a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Barry University and a Doctorate in Business Administration (D.B.A.) from the Nova Southern University.

  • Dr. Brian Langrin - He is the Head of the Financial Stability Department at the Bank of Jamaica and the Regional Director of the Caribbean Chapter for the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Dr. Langrin earned his PhD in Economics from Penn State University.

  • Mr. Charles Rubin - He is an international consultant in financial securities. He has been CEO of both stock and futures brokerage firms. Mr. Rubin has degrees from Columbia College and Columbia Engineering School.

  • Dr. Lavern McFarlane - She holds a PhD in Financial Economics from the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester and a MSc. in Economics and a BSc. in Economics and Accounting from the University of the West Indies.

  • Mrs. Marlene Street Forrest - She is the General Manager of Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) and Director of both its subsidiaries. Mrs. Street Forest is the holder of a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Barry University and a BSc. in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies.
